*NATURAL RESERVE BIVIERE DI GELA, SICILY *
*Dates :* 17-29.08.13

*Place:* Natural Reserve " Biviere di Gela", Gela, Sicily

*Project description*
*
Partner :* The camp takes place in the Natural reserve "Biviere di Gela- 
" - www.riservabiviere.it <http://www.riservabiviere.it> . The natural 
reserve is close to one of the biggest chemical plant in Italy with a 
very serious impact on the environment. However it is also an area of 
high interest for ornithologists: many species of migrant birds are 
stopping in this humid area on the way back and forth of their migration 
and therefore it is possible to watch  ans   study them in the Reserve.
*Work*
Volunteers will help the staff of the natural reserve in cleaning, paint 
wooden stations for bird watching and wooden wooden bridge over a small 
river. Other works connected with the management of the wet area will be 
carried out with the staff of the Reserve.

*Accomodation and food*
Volunteers will be hosted in a house inside the reserve, equipped with 
beds, toilets, facilities. Fresh food  will be provided, and will be 
cooked by volunteers

*Location & leisure*
Gela itself is a famous archaelogical site and it is close to the 
beaches. Nearest cities to visit are Siracusa, Piazza Armerina, Noto, 
Avola. Some trips during the free days will be organized with all 
participans by van.
*
Requirements*
Having driving licence is welcome. The natural reserve is far from the 
the city and driving a small van is needed to buy food.

*Meeting point*
To be agreed and it will be indicated in the Info Sheet.

*Nearest airport *
Preferably Catania but also Palermo

*GENERAL CONDITIONS *
The project will involve young people between 16-25.
  In case of participants under 18, they will have to provide parenthal 
authorization before the departure, scanned, signed together with the 
copy of the parent signing.
Participants will join international activities and  as according with 
each project description  and will carry on volunteering activities on 
envinronmental topic.
Financial conditions
For all volunteer travelling from Croatia and Estonia, even though not 
residents, it is foreseen to provide 40% of travel reimbursement cost.
Financial reimbursement will be given through bank transfer only after 
having received ALL documents related with travel cost ( boarding 
passes, receipts, bus ticket, metro ticket, train ticket, etc) in original.
Once in the project, participants will have accommodation, food and 
insurance provided by the Project.
