Casa TIFF - Inspiring Creativity<br>
<br>
About the project:<br>
<br>
Situated in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, CASA TIFF is a cultural center that <br>
has the objective of promoting cinematographic education and the need <br>
of expression through art, cultivating and developing the passion for <br>
film, photography, theatre, and visual arts in general.<br>
<br>
Casa TIFF is a brand developed under the umbrella of the Transilvania <br>
International Film Festival ? TIFF, which was founded in 2002 and is <br>
the first international feature film festival in Romania. During these <br>
eleven years, TIFF has become a well-known brand in Romania, not only <br>
due to the outstanding films screened every year, but also for the <br>
effective organization, sparkling atmosphere and density of events, <br>
from seminars, workshops and panels to fabulous concerts and all night <br>
long parties. The last editions of TIFF have not only been <br>
spectacular, but also showcased an extremely generous and diverse <br>
offer of films and sensational events. The 2012 edition has broken all <br>
the records, with 240 films from 46 countries, screened in the 13 <br>
festival locations, attracting over 67.000 spectators during the ten <br>
days of the festival.<br>

Duration of service: May 1st ? September 30th (5 months)<br>

Number of EVS volunteers: 2 (two)<br>
<br>
Proposed activities:<br>
- logistic support for the artistic events hosted by Casa TIFF <br>
(concerts, screenings, contests, games etc.)<br>
- animation for children involved in the artistic activities dedicated to them<br>
- promoting activities for the programmed events<br>
- logistic activities during the 2013 edition of TIFF (May 31st ? June 9th)<br>
- volunteers will be encouraged to propose new activities and will <br>
have the opportunity to get involved in the continuous development <br>
process of the program<br>

About the project:<br>
<br>
ADESCO has established a partnership with Bacau County Department for <br>
Youth and Sports (D.J.T.S.), which is organizing each year English <br>
learning workcamps for youth aged between 7-18 years. Some of the <br>
children come from disadvantaged environments. Grouped in series with <br>
the duration of one week, according to their age, the young people <br>
have the opportunity to enrich their knowledge of the English language <br>
through conversation, games and other educational activities. The <br>
volunteers will be involved in this non-formal teaching process and <br>
will contribute to promoting different countries and cultures, and <br>
raise awarness upon European citizenship. The EVS volunteers will form <br>
a team with Romanian volunteers in order to implement the activities.<br>

Duration: June 1st ? September 30st 2013 (4 months)<br>

Location:<br>
The recreation center ?Valea Budului? is situated 15 km away from <br>
Bacau city, in a beautiful forest, with a North-West orientation from <br>
the ?Pietricica Bacaului? peak. Bacau is the main city of Bacau <br>
County, Romania. As of 2011 census, it has a population of 133,460, <br>
making it the 15th largest city in Romania. The city is situated in <br>
the historical region of Moldavia, at the foothills of the Carpathian <br>
Mountains. The activities will take place at the recreation center, <br>
but there will be opportunities to visit the city of Bacau and other <br>
surrounding areas.<br>
<br>
Accommodation:<br>
The volunteers will be hosted at the Guest House of the workcamp - 2 <br>
floor mansion, with 4 rooms of 2 beds per floor, living-room at each <br>
floor, kitchen, bathroom. Meals will be served at the workcamp <br>
canteen. Volunteers with special diet or eating preferences must <br>
inform the organizers in advance upon their needs.<br>
<br>
Activities:<br>
- non-formal foreign languages courses (theory/exercises/educational <br>
movie session/literature reading)<br>
- conversational courses, emphasizing on the daily vocabulary<br>
- recreational activities (sports, outdoor games, short trips etc.)<br>
- administrative activities (cleaning up, gardening etc.)<br>
- initiating the youth in volunteering<br>
- promoting the EVS program to Romanian volunteers, encouraging them <br>
to perform a service abroad.<br>
